In a microscopic picture, herpes genital wart exhibits a characteristic cervical dysplasia; sometimes classified as ASCUS to an untrained eye. One of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the United States is HPV. Each year more than 5 million people will acquire a HPV infection, which can cause visible symptoms and has been associated with uterine cervical cancer in women. Cervical Dysplasia, ASCUS

The HSV infection is found at the root of the nerve cell in the spinal chord. The genetic material, once it infects the cell, becomes a “factory” for making more viruses. This virus infection is not curable, but can by controlled with medication.
