A sexually transmitted disease genital wart is rather difficult to cure; cryotherapy and LEEP in the cervical area only remove the symptoms, but the problem may recur. To reduce the risk of re-infection and recurrence of HPV lesions, simultaneous treatment of infected patents and their sexual partners is recommended. There are treatments available. Lesions can appear on the head or shaft of a man’s penis, or on a woman’s vulva, vagina, or cervix. Some strains of the virus that do not cause warts can cause cancer. This virus is usually asymptomatic and only a few virus types produce recognizable lesions. HPV can be spread by skin-to-skin contact, so condoms should not be expected to provide complete protection.
