Friable Cervix
The diagnosis, friable cervix, means that the cervix is easily irritated, usually a result from HPV and other STDs, a colposcopy can usually determine if HPV viruses are the cause.
This term means that the cervical tissue is prone to bleeding. Usually testing reveals the presence of HPV viruses or other STDs. Bleeding is typically due to chlamydia or other infections or cervical cancer.

When this condition is present it is important to see a gynecolgist. Often a colposcopy and cryotherapy is performed as treatment. There are risks with this treatment, such as scarring of the cervical tissue which may effect the ability to get pregnant in the future. Always get a second opinion!
