Leep Procedures
Most leep procedures are performed when a pap smear shows cervical abnormalities, usually indicating the presence of HPV.
It is one of the methods of treating cervical dysplasia of moderate and severe forms by a thing wire loop carrying an electrical current. It is performed only if a Pap smear test indicates the presence of abnormal cells on the surface of the cervix.

If left untreated for a long time, such disorder may develop into cervical cancer. To remove the abnormal cells a loop electrode is attached to the generator and put into the vagina. A colposcope helps to locate abnormal cells properly.
