Cervix Incompetent Symptom
A disorder of the cervix, incompetent symptom may be the result of surgical diagnostics for cervical cancer such as cone biopsy.
Often women see their provider for pelvic heaviness, or lots of discharge and examination has found cervical dilation with leaking fluids. Sometimes funneling is also seen, where the internal portion has begun to efface (thin out) although the external shows no effects.

Ineffectual cervical dilation cannot be discounted during uterine contractions, bleeding, ruptured membranes, and intra-amniotic infection since pre/post relationships is not known. Weakening during previous childbirth, DES exposure, cervical trauma--D&C, LEEP, biopsy-- hormonal affects, congenitally short cervical length, or other anomalies may be predeterminants. Often a cause cannot be found.
