Cervix Cerclage
Cervix cerclage has been used following surgery for HPV-caused cervical dysplasia.
A stitch in the opening of the cervix to keep it closed for preventing preterm labor or miscarriage. Is not effective in women at risk (having problems with cervix or sexually transmitted diseases). It may cause serious health complications: infections and minor health problems, resulting in hospital admission.

In the past, women who have been exposed to DES in utero were recommended such measure of preventing miscarriages. The procedure is often technically difficult because of anatomical abnormalities of the cervix. It can be successfully replaced with frequent examinations and bed rest.
