Testing for cancerous cells of the cervix is done through a Pap smear. It is important to have a regular exam to detect any symptoms of future cancerous tissue or cells. Successful treatment much depends on early detection of the problem. After the age of 30, a combination of Pap smear and HPV test should be performed every year.
