Cervical Inflammation
Cervical inflammation (cervicitis) can result in atypical Pap smear interpretations for cervical dysplasia from HPV.
Cervicitis is caused by an infection, or chemical exposure, or a foreign body. The presence of foreign objects makes the cervix more susceptible to infection. The condition is characterized by irritated or raw areas, buildup of discharge, and itching. Cervicitis is very common in women.
