Cervical Cerclage
Cervical cerclage is used for the treatment of an incompetent cervix, and not for vulvar issues or lichen sclerosus.
It can be successfully replaced with frequent examinations and bed rest. The procedure is often technically difficult because of anatomical abnormalities of the cervix. In the past, women who have been exposed to DES in utero were recommended such measure of preventing miscarriages.

It may cause serious health complications: infections and minor health problems, resulting in hospital admission. It is not effective in women at risk (having problems with cervix or sexually transmitted diseases). A stitch in the opening of the cervix to keep it closed for preventing preterm labor or miscarriage.
