Colpo
With a colpo exam it is easy to determine venereal wart, ASCUS and other disorders of the cervix.
If the affected area is not very large, it can be treated during the same visit with a biopsy or LEEP (loop electrosurgical excision procedure.) Tiny samples of tissue (biopsies) are taken from the abnormal areas for a pathologist to examine under the microscope.

To perform such examination the cervix is cleaned with a vinegar solution, which makes the abnormal areas white when seen through a colposcope. This examination is usually performed after several abnormal Pap smear tests to determine the nature of the problem.
