Screen For Cervical Cancer
A common screen for cervical cancer, the Pap smear, detects early HPV infections.
The common testing procedure for HPV infection is an annual pap exam. The only problem is; if you don’t have abnormal cells, often times labs will not perform a Digene Hybrid Capture HPV DNA test. This test determines whether you carry high or low risk strains of the virus.

Pap Smear, HPV
There is limited testing for men. Some urologists can perform a penile urethral swab if no symptoms of HPV are present, and a biopsy if any warts are present. STD testing in men unfortunately doesn’t include testing for the HPV virus.
