Studies confirm a direct link between the
birth control pill and cervical cancer, however this is not true with vaginitis and vaginosis.
There are two schools of thought on whether oral contraceptives increase or decrease the chances of abnormal cells of the cervix. Some say that those women on BCP’s for more than 5 years showed a higher rate of abnormal paps. Others say that those taking BCP’s protects against severe dysplasia.

Another thought is women whom use birth control pills are more at risk of HPV infection, because basically they are having more sex. Those not on the pill are not thought to be promiscuous; they are either abstinent, or in a monogamous relationship.
