Aloe vera history

Several thousand years of written history have recorded the legendary healing power of the Aloe vera plant. Nevertheless, until recently, scientists were puzzled. In the laboratory, Aloe vera was frequently worthless. Why? It is because the active healing ingredient in Aloe vera deteriorates rapidly after harvest. Within just a few hours, unless properly preserved, the active compound breaks down.

Properly extracted, the healing compound is free of the laxative effects and allergic reactions that can occur with fresh Aloe vera gel. It has many advantages over fresh Aloe vera. In the Aloe vera plant are more than 200 different compounds. Some of these have a strong laxative effect. Others cause allergic reactions. Only the extracted beta-mannans and beta-glucans have been shown to possess the healing benefits attributed to Aloe vera. These pure compounds are in the carbohydrate family. Since only protein compounds, not carbohydrates, are known to cause allergic reactions, an allergic reaction to these extracts is probably impossible. These compounds been used by thousands of people and no instance of allergy or side effects has ever been reported.

Aloe vera offers excellent support of the immune system. The properties of the compounds in Aloe vera were more remarkable than the early researchers had imagined possible. Aloe vera supports the body's natural "killer" cells of the immune system. These are specialized white blood cells that fight against viruses, bacteria and tumor cells. The improved immune cells may stop behaving abnormally; instead they commonly discontinue harmful immune responses that are the cause of such conditions as allergies, autoimmune disease and hypersensitivity reactions.
