In a small percentage of cases, dysplasia can develop into cancer (carcinoma in situ or invasive carcinoma). Dysplasia of the cervix of the uterus is first detected by an abnormal Pap smear. HPV (human papillomavirus) is the only proven cause of cervical dysplasia. Genital warts occur in a small percentage of HPV infections in both men and women.
Common misspellings for cervical dysplasia include: cervical displasia, cervical dysplaysia, cervical displaysia, cervical displacia, cervecal dysplasia, cervixal dysplasia, cervical dysplasi, cervcial dysplasia, cevical dyspalsia, and many more.
